Degree is not a guarantee for the JOB

Hello Guys, welcome to Learn and Grow “Free Career Counselling Series”. Today we will discuss “Degree is not a Guarantee for the Job”. My friends, yes of course there is no job without a degree. You should have to complete your Basic education to join any industry to start your Career.  If you choose the banking sector as a career in the operations department, ideally your qualification would be an MBA in Finance.

But if you would like to choose a sales department in the banking sector, your Degree should be an MBA in Marketing. Similarly, if you would like to be a professor, you should have PhD degree. Moreover, if you are a graduate person, you may join the Pharmaceutical industry. So there are many industries to choose from.

Remember one thing Degree is important but it is not the guarantee for the job. I have conducted so many interviews to hire people, there are many reasons for unemployment. In my opinion, there are two major reasons for unemployment,

Only a Degree is not a guarantee for the JOB. If you are a student of MBA Finance, your university may ask you to believe that you will find a job just Completion of your degree. Your GPA should be high. So, you should focus on your degree only. There is no practical knowledge in any University. That’s why many of you are hurt, because there is no job just because you have a degree. Meanwhile, your expectations were high.

So, you start dropping CVs here and there. Your time passed quickly, months, years after years. A few candidates visited my office in the recent past for interviews. All of them were from the same class of the same University, They all had MBA Finance Degrees and searching for a job for the last year.

I questioned them, why they had wasted one year, and they all answered that University Professors told us that a job is no issue. But we have still searching for a job for the last year. The other important thing is that all were MBAs in Finance and applied for the Job of Sales and Marketing. So, a Degree is not a guarantee for the JOB.

The other reason for Unemployment is that, we are not prepared for the job, yes it is. We don’t have practical knowledge. Our CVs are incorrect. We don’t know how to present in the interview. The job which we have applied is matching our profile or not?

One candidate entered my office for the interview without knocking on the door. I asked the purpose, he told me that he was a candidate for an interview. Anyway, I asked him to sit and introduce yourself. He just said, Sir, I Need a Job. I asked him why he needed a job, he again said that he needed a job. I again asked how much salary you are expecting, he said Sir I need a job.

Sir I need a Job, Degree is not a guarantee for the JOB

So, a Degree is not a guarantee for the JOB. My friends this is not the case actually. Job hunting is like selling anything. It is a continuous learnable skill. You have to know, how to properly write your CV. How to present yourself in the interview? Assume you are a product. And you have to sell yourself. I will let you know in my next article how you can prepare yourself and how you will get a job.

In conclusion, while a degree is certainly an important step towards entering a desired field, it is not a guarantee for securing a job. So, the real key lies in complementing your academic qualifications with practical skills, a well-crafted resume, and strong interview techniques. It’s essential to align your expectations with the realities of the job market and continuously enhance your abilities to stand out among other candidates. Remember, education provides the foundation, but it’s your skills and preparation that truly open the doors to career opportunities.
